Conundrums prevent the spread of opinions

What's the deal with contractions? "Isn't" is the same number of characters as "is not". Unless you count the space between "is" and "not." And why would you count space? Space is infinite. It would take infinity to count. And what are you contracting? What are the terms of the contract? The o is replaced by an apostrophe. Then what happens - you never hear about that - does the o go on unemployment? Can the o sue for age discrimination? The o has been around forever. In fact, without an o you don't even HAVE forever.
